The gentle-strength developer for toning and refreshing services. XP Cream Developer in 1.9% / 6 Volume is a stabilised cream peroxide formulated to give reliable, professional results with the XP100 Intense Radiance and XP200 Natural Flair permanent colour ranges, and the XP100 Light Radiance demi-permanent range. At 6 Volume, it's the lowest-strength option, designed for tone-on-tone work, colour refreshing, glossing services and pastel toning, where you want to deposit or refresh tone without lifting the natural hair. Its creamy consistency makes for smooth colour preparation and easy, even application, with a light fragrance and antistatic properties that help leave results soft and shiny.

What it does for your hair

The developer (peroxide) is what activates colour and, at higher strengths, lifts the natural pigment, so choosing the right volume is key to the result. At 1.9% / 6 Volume, this is the gentlest strength: it provides just enough activation for tone-on-tone deposit, colour refreshing, glossing and pastel toning, without lifting the base, ideal when you want to add, refresh or soften tone rather than go lighter. Its creamy texture keeps the mixed colour smooth and workable for even, controlled application, and the exclusive formula helps look after the hair for a soft, glossy finish. For lift and grey coverage, you'd step up to a higher volume (this range also comes in 10, 13, 20, 30 and 40 volume).

    How to use it

For professional use. Always carry out an allergy alert test at least 48 hours before the colour service (see below). Mix the developer with your XP colour at the ratio specified for that shade and range, choosing 6 Volume for tone-on-tone, refreshing, glossing or pastel toning services. Apply to the hair, process for the recommended time, then rinse and follow with a colour-safe conditioner. Always follow the full instructions supplied with the colour and developer.

    Who it's for

This one's for colourists doing toning, glossing, refreshing and pastel work with the XP100/XP200 colour ranges who need the gentlest developer strength. We've been perfecting colour, blow-dries and styling for clients in Codsall for years, and matching the right developer volume to the service is one of the fundamentals of a great, predictable colour result.
