Perming Neutralizer

Perming neutralizer is the second stage of the perming process. After the waving lotion has processed and the hair has been wound around rods to create the desired curl pattern, the neutralizer is applied to stop the chemical process and fix the new curl shape permanently into the hair structure.

Using the correct neutralizer and following the manufacturer's timing instructions is as important as the waving lotion itself. Under-neutralizing can result in a weak or inconsistent curl, while over-processing can cause unnecessary damage. Most neutralizers are used with the rods still in the hair and rinsed before the rods are removed.
