Individual Eyelashes
Whether you're a qualified lash technician building out your kit, a salon owner restocking supplies, or a confident at-home user creating bespoke lash looks, our individual eyelash collection brings together professional-grade extensions, adhesives and application tools in one place. Build classic one-to-one sets, hybrid blends, or full Russian volume fans — and customise length, curl, thickness and effect for every client and every eye shape.
What are individual eyelash extensions?
Individual eyelashes (also called lash extensions) are single synthetic, silk or mink-effect fibres applied one at a time to a single natural lash using a specialised semi-permanent adhesive. Unlike strip lashes — which sit along the lash line as one piece — individual extensions bond to each natural lash and grow out with it, which is what gives professional lash work its seamless, "they're real" finish.
Because each extension is bonded to a natural lash rather than glued to the skin, the look is significantly more natural and lasts much longer than strip lashes. A properly applied set typically lasts 2-4 weeks, with infill appointments every 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness as the natural lashes shed and regrow.
Choosing the right individual lashes
By application style
- Classic lashes (1:1 ratio) — one extension applied to one natural lash. Creates a defined, mascara-style finish that lengthens and enhances the natural lash without obvious fullness. The starting point for newly qualified techs and the go-to choice for clients wanting subtle enhancement.
- Volume / Russian volume lashes (2D-10D fans) — multiple ultra-fine fibres handcrafted into a fan and applied to a single natural lash. Creates dramatic density and dark, fluffy fullness without weighing the natural lash down. Requires more advanced training but delivers the showpiece "Russian volume" look that drives repeat bookings.
- Hybrid lashes — a mix of classic and volume techniques in the same set, typically 70% classic / 30% volume or similar ratio. Gives you the texture and density of volume work with the simplicity of classic application. Hybrid sets are increasingly the most-requested look in salons because they hit the sweet spot between natural and dramatic.
- Mega volume / wispy lashes — premade or handmade fans of 10D+ fibres for ultra-dramatic, wispy, "Kim K" style looks. Specialist territory for advanced techs.
By curl
- J curl — the most natural curl, suits clients who want subtle definition without obvious lift
- B curl — slightly more lift than J, still natural-looking
- C curl — the industry standard for most clients, gives a properly defined open-eye effect
- CC curl — between C and D, slightly more dramatic lift
- D curl — the most lifted curl, ideal for hooded eyes or clients who want a really lifted, opened-eye look
- L and L+ curls — straight at the base with curled tips, designed specifically for clients with downward-pointing natural lashes or monolid eye shapes
By length and thickness
Individual lashes are typically available in lengths from 6mm to 18mm and thicknesses from 0.03mm (ultra-fine, used for volume fans) to 0.20mm (used sparingly for classic application on stronger natural lashes). The right length and thickness depend on the strength and length of the client's natural lashes — applying lashes that are too long or too thick causes premature shedding and can damage the natural lash long-term. Always assess the natural lash before choosing your extension dimensions.
By material
Modern individual lashes are almost exclusively made from PBT (a synthetic polyester fibre that mimics natural lash texture). "Mink", "silk" and "faux mink" labels usually refer to the finish, not the material — true mink is rarely used in modern professional lash work and isn't cruelty-free. PBT lashes are vegan, hold their curl beautifully, and come in matte or glossy finishes depending on the look you're creating.
What you need for individual lash application
Building a professional lash kit goes beyond just the lashes themselves. The essential supplies for individual eyelash application include:
- Individual lashes in your chosen mix of curls, lengths and thicknesses (most techs work from a multi-tray setup)
- Professional lash adhesive — the most critical product in your kit. Adhesive performance varies massively by humidity and temperature, so most experienced techs keep 2-3 different glues for different conditions
- Lash tweezers — typically a straight pair for isolation and a curved or angled pair for picking and placing extensions. Volume work requires specialist volume tweezers for fan creation
- Eyelash primer to clean and prep the natural lashes for optimal adhesive bond
- Under-eye gel pads or tape to protect the lower lashes during application
- Microbrushes and lint-free applicators for cleansing, primer application and finishing
- Lash adhesive remover for safe extension removal at end-of-cycle
- Lash cleanser / lash shampoo for client aftercare and pre-infill cleansing
- Lash mirror for showing clients the finished result
- Adhesive nano-mister or humidity meter for managing curing conditions in the treatment room
Adhesive matters more than the lashes themselves
Worth being honest about this. The lash itself is important, but the adhesive is what determines whether your retention is excellent or embarrassing. Professional lash adhesives need to be matched to the humidity and temperature of your treatment environment — a glue that performs brilliantly in a humid summer salon will give you poor retention in a dry winter one. Most experienced techs keep multiple adhesives on rotation and choose based on conditions on the day. Budget allocation matters here: a decent set of lashes with an outstanding adhesive will outperform an outstanding set of lashes with mediocre adhesive every single time.
Frequently asked questions
How long do individual eyelash extensions last?
A properly applied set lasts 2-4 weeks before needing infills. Each extension follows the natural shedding cycle of its individual host lash, so retention varies depending on natural lash growth rate, aftercare, oil exposure and lifestyle. Clients with regular infills every 2-3 weeks can maintain a full-looking set indefinitely.
Do individual lashes damage your natural lashes?
When applied correctly using appropriately sized extensions, individual lashes do not damage natural lashes. Damage occurs when extensions are too long or too thick for the natural lash to support, when adhesive is applied incorrectly causing extensions to bond to multiple lashes, or when clients pick or pull at their lashes. Proper training, correct sizing and good aftercare are the three things that prevent damage.
Can I apply individual lashes to myself?
Cluster-style individual lashes (premade clusters of 3-5 fibres) are designed for at-home application and are widely available. True one-to-one classic and volume extensions, however, require professional training to apply safely. Working with adhesive on your own closed eye while bonding individual fibres to individual natural lashes is genuinely difficult, and improper application can cause permanent natural lash damage. We recommend professional application for anything beyond cluster-style lashes.
What's the difference between classic, hybrid and volume lashes?
Classic is one extension per natural lash, hybrid mixes classic and volume techniques in the same set, and volume is multiple ultra-fine fibres fanned out and applied to one natural lash. Classic is most natural, volume is most dramatic, and hybrid sits between the two — and hybrid sets have become the most popular request in most UK salons.
How do you choose lash length, curl and thickness for a client?
Assess the natural lash first — its length, strength and curl pattern set the upper limit for what you can safely apply. Standard guidance: extensions should be no more than 2-3mm longer than the natural lash, and thicknesses should match the natural lash strength (use 0.05-0.10mm for fine natural lashes, up to 0.20mm only on strong, healthy natural lashes for classic work). Curl choice depends on eye shape — D curl for hooded eyes wanting more lift, L curl for downturned natural lashes, C curl as a versatile default.
What lash training do I need to apply individual extensions professionally?
You'll need an accredited lash extensions qualification covering classic application as a minimum, with separate certifications for hybrid, volume and mega volume techniques. UK requirements vary by insurer and council, but most professional lash technicians hold qualifications from training providers like Lash Perfect, Nouveau Lashes, Salon System, or similar accredited schools. Most insurers require certification to cover you for treatments.
