What Does 5 Volume Developer Do?

At 1.5% hydrogen peroxide, 5 Vol is the gentlest developer available. It opens the cuticle just enough to allow colour deposit without lifting the natural or existing colour base. This makes it ideal for glossing services, toning bleached hair, or adding shine and depth to hair that is already at the desired level. It is not suitable for lightening or covering grey, where a higher volume developer would be needed.
