Glitterbels HEMA-Free Acid-Free Primer is a 17ml bottle of professional nail primer designed for use after filing the natural nail plate but before acrylic or gel application. Both the HEMA-free and acid-free credentials are genuine formulation properties that matter — HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is the specific chemical in many gel and primer formulations that most commonly triggers allergy reactions in sensitised individuals; a HEMA-free primer reduces the exposure route for anyone with acrylate sensitivity. Acid-free means the primer uses a non-methacrylic-acid bonding chemistry — traditional acid primers used methacrylic acid, which is corrosive to skin and the nail plate; acid-free primers use gentler bonding chemistries and are the modern professional standard for reducing nail plate damage from repeated application. Bonding-type primer function: primes the nail plate for improved adhesion of gel or acrylic products applied over it.

How to use

Complete your standard prep work: cuticle push-back and cleanup, light filing or etching of the nail plate. Apply Glitterbels dehydrator first if using. Apply a thin layer of primer to the natural nail plate only — avoid contact with the surrounding skin, which reduces the risk of allergic sensitisation and skin irritation. Allow to air-dry per the manufacturer routine (acid-free bonding primers typically don't need to be cured under lamp — they work as they dry). Follow with your gel base coat and gel polish, or apply acrylic monomer and powder for acrylic work. Store the bottle upright with the cap tightly closed.
