Tint Bowls
Unglamorous, essential and used more than almost anything else on the trolley. A tint bowl is where every colour service starts, and the difference between a good one and a cheap one shows up within a week of proper use. We stock bowls for mixing tint, bleach, toners and treatments, in the sizes and finishes that hold up to daily salon wear.
What makes a good tint bowl
We colour hair every day in Codsall, so this is one category we can speak about from genuine experience. The features that actually matter are a rubberised or ridged base so the bowl stays put on the trolley while you whisk, a decent depth so mixture does not climb the sides, and a rim your brush can rest against without sliding in. Measurement markings inside the bowl are worth paying a little more for if you work to ratios rather than by eye, particularly with bleach and developer.
Sizes and how many you need
Smaller bowls suit root touch ups, toners and single application colours where you would only be wasting product in something larger. Standard and large bowls come into their own for full head applications, balayage work and anything involving lightener, where you need room to whisk properly without flicking product across the floor. Most colourists end up with several rather than one, because the moment you start working two formulas on the same head you need a second bowl immediately.
Stackable and multi bowl sets
If trolley space is tight, stackable designs nest into each other and take up a fraction of the room. Multi bowl sets and connected trays are useful for foil work and creative colour where you are running three or four shades at once and need them within reach and clearly separated.
Cleaning and looking after them
Rinse straight after use rather than letting product dry in, and the bowl will last far longer. Lighter coloured plastics will pick up staining from strong reds and direct dyes over time, which is cosmetic rather than a problem, though black bowls hide it entirely if that bothers you. Pair them with a tint brush that suits the width of your sections, and keep a spare set aside for treatments so you are not mixing a bond builder in a bowl that smells of bleach.
