At Revive Hair Artists in Codsall, we've been using Diva Professional hair dryers in the salon for as long as we can remember — they've always been our go-to brand and we've retailed them to clients for years. More recently we made the switch to Alfa Italia, and it's been the best decision we've made on hair dryers. The Alfa Italia range is now our most retailed hair dryer to date, and we can genuinely say it's the best we've ever used in the salon.

That said, both brands earn their place in our range for different reasons — and so do Parlux, WAHL and BaByliss PRO. Here's everything you need to know to pick the right one.

Understanding Wattage

Wattage indicates power, not necessarily quality. A 2000-watt dryer produces less airflow than a 4000-watt one, meaning longer drying time. For fine or short hair, 1800–2300 watts is plenty. For thick, long, or very curly hair, 3000+ watts cuts drying time significantly — which actually reduces heat damage because hair spends less total time under heat. However, high wattage means nothing if the motor burns out after six months. Professional motors are built to withstand daily salon use, which is why they cost more.

Diva Professional Styling Range

Diva's entry-level Edit Veloce 3800 Pro comes in Black, Pink, Purple, or Red. It's 3800 watts with two speed settings, three heat settings, and a cool shot button. This model includes a concentrator and diffuser. For occasional home use or mobile hairstylists on a budget, it does the job reliably.

The Rapida 4000 Pro steps up to 4000 watts. Available in Violet, Magenta, and Onyx. Same 4000-watt motor, same attachments — the 4000-watt motor makes a noticeable difference on thick hair.

The Atmos Ultra is Diva's premium model with advanced ionic technology and a long-lasting AC motor. AC motors run cooler, last longer under heavy use, and maintain consistent power. Alfa Italia — Our Current Favourite

We made the switch to Alfa Italia at Revive and haven't looked back. The Alfa Italia Forza Pro is a full-size 2300-watt professional workhorse — reliable, powerful enough for daily salon use, and well-priced. The motor longevity and consistent heat are what convert people. It's become our most retailed dryer for good reason.

The Alfa Italia Viaggio Travel Sets are a different animal — compact dryer and mini straighteners in a travel case, dual voltage, available in five colours. Don't expect full salon performance, but for travel or the gym bag, they're ideal.

Parlux

Parlux are an Italian professional brand with a devoted following among stylists. The Parlux 385 and 3200 ranges are built for heavy daily use and are known for longevity. If you want a dryer that will still be performing in five years, Parlux is the brand to consider.

WAHL

WAHL's reputation is built on motor durability — that carries over to their hair dryers. The Vanquish is a solid mid-range option with a professional-grade motor, ionic technology, and multiple heat and speed settings. A good choice if you want something between the budget and premium tiers.

Diffusers for Curly Hair
